Common questions

Do I need DA if I only rent occasionally?
If your total bookings stay under 90 nights in your registration year, no — state registration is all you need. The 90-night exemption is confirmed by the Town's own STRA guidance and the State Government planning reforms page.
My property is near the beach — is that a factor?
The Town's data shows most STRA is concentrated in the beachside streets. The Town will assess your application on its merits, but high concentration in an area can be raised in the assessment context.
How long does the development application take?
Standard WA planning timeframe is 60 days from lodgement for a properly made application. Advertised applications take longer. Confirm with the Town at the time of lodgement.
Can I apply if my property is a unit?
Yes — the Town processes applications for units/apartments. Check your strata by-laws separately, as a council DA does not override strata by-laws.
